Yellow Nutsedge
This weed is often mistaken as grass when it's actually a "sedge". It grows more rapidly than turfgrass, making it very unsightly
Yellow Nutsedge Facts:
- Emerges in late spring and grows until fall weather begins to cool
- Perennial weed
- Triangular stems of shiny, yellow-green leaves
- Can grow to 18-24"
- Prefers wet areas with poor drainage but can develop almost anywhere
- Mature plants develop spiky yellow-green seedheads in mid-late summer
- Plants are spread by seeds and underground "nutlets". Can crowd-out desirable turfgrass.
